Origin

Origin
In the wild the fat tailed gerbils are found in sparsely vegetated areas, mainly in the sandy sheets or rocky deserts of Northern Africa. They originate from Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt and the northern part of the Sahara desert. Fat tailed gerbils like to travel around quite a bit and are known to live in burrows that are about 1 meter deep. The fat tailed gerbil may also occupy burrows of other species. They usually live alone or in small groups.
